Student Researcher and Anadarko Fellowship Recipient
Makenzie graduated in 2020 with a degree in Biology/Environmental Science and is now pursuing a nursing degree. She was a research intern in 2016 studying genetic techniques including PCR, gel electrophoresis, Sanger sequencing, primer design, and bacterial transformation. As an Anadarko fellowship recipient since 2018, she has worked to understand the spatial and temporal distribution of organic compounds in the Uinta Basin atmosphere, including collection of field samples and sample analysis by gas chromatography/mass spectrometry. She has volunteered with 6th-8th grade science fairs and teaches horsemanship and equine science privately and through the 4-H program.
